It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we recommend Jamie Barber as a Realtor. It was time for us to find a new house so we of course thought about Jamie; he had helped our parents find their new house. But we weren’t going to be easy clients; we had a very small area we were willing to buy in and had several requirements for the house. Jamie was very patient. And his primary goal was to make sure we got a good house we were happy with, it didn’t matter how many houses we looked at, or how often we went out.
We finally found the house. It was a short sale. Jamie did a great job guiding us in what we should offer and what would be appealing to the bank. He also prepared us well for the process. A lot of hurry up and wait. He would have to remind us, with our own check list, why the house was worth waiting for, “don’t get discouraged”. And he was on top of everything, checking in with the selling agent weekly to see where they were with the bank. And then when it looked close, had all the inspectors ready to go, because once the bank says yes there is no time to waste. After 78 days of waiting for the bank and 20 days after the yes we were the owners of a house.

My husband and I started meeting with Jamie Barber last November to discuss purchasing our first home. As first-time home-buyers, Jamie did a wonderful job bringing us “up to speed” especially with all the different types of sales available in today’s market (foreclosures, short sales, standard home sales, etc). Jamie did a wonderful job asking the right questions and listening to our responses to understand where we were at and what we were looking for in a house. Right from the start, he was 100% dedicated to our needs and wants, and he made the whole experience comfortable, enjoyable, and as stress-free as possible.
Jamie spent countless hours showing us house after house all over Nevada County. When we saw a listing we liked, Jamie would work it into his schedule to show us the house as soon as possible; we never felt like we had to wait or that we missed an opportunity to see a house. He did an excellent job in letting us wander and look through the house at our own pace, while still pointing out both positive things about the house and things he knew could be concerns for us. He was very patient with us, and as a father himself, was very patient with our two children who were in tow on many occasions. Our kids loved him too, so much so that our 3 year-old named a rubber ducky after him and would take her other bath toys around to show them houses!
When we placed an offer on the house we ended up buying, we were slightly reluctant as it was a foreclosed home. We had heard horror stories about working with banks, and did not want to become one of them. Jamie walked us through the entire process, taking us step by step, and we had no large complications at all. We were fortunate enough to have everything go through in a timely fashion as well.
Throughout the confusing process of being in escrow, Jamie was always there for us. If I remember correctly, he was at every inspection, even when we couldn’t be there at times. He worked very hard in getting our inspections lined up very quickly and efficiently to work within the short inspection period that was required by the bank. He went out of his way time and time again to get our house closed quickly, in April 2011, as the bank required.
We have already recommended Jamie Barber to our friends and family and will continue to do so without reservation. He excels at his job and really puts the interest of his clients as a priority. Despite having several other clients to attend to, Jamie managed to make us feel as though we were his top ones through the attention and incredible effort he provided.

Jamie Barber was our REALTOR and assisted us in buying our first home. To put it plainly, he was the best. We found Jamie through referrals from our friends and had heard rave reviews. He definitely lived up to the hype!
We were first time homebuyers, so we were new to the process. We came into the home buying process knowing nothing about how it worked and we were slightly intimidated. From our first meeting with him, Jamie immediately put us at ease and guided us through the process. He was patient with us through all of our endless questions (and we had a million!) From the home buying process itself, to referrals for pest inspectors and contractors, Jamie was knowledgeable and always there to answer our questions.
Looking at tons of houses to find the one you want, all the while on a tight budget, can be challenging. Jamie consistently made the process effortless for us. We were on a fairly limited budget, but we always felt at ease with Jamie about that. It always seemed like he put us first, whether we had $100,000 to spend or $1,000,000 to spend. We truly felt like Jamie cared about us as individuals and really wanted us to find the perfect house for our family . . . not he house that he was going to make the most profit off of!
We were very lucky in that we ended up finding the perfect house for our family. However, we almost didn’t go forward on buying the house, because we perceived some issues with it.
However, Jamie got the right people on the job and convinced us to just stick with it because we loved the house so much. We worked with some great sellers and Realtors on the other end and

My Fiancé and I recently closed escrow on our first home and I would like share with you our wonderful experience. When we embarked on our house hunting journey we lived in San Diego and knew that we wanted to purchase a home near Grass Valley or Auburn so that we could be closer to family. One of our family members had recently purchased a home and highly recommended Jamie Barber to assist us with the process. After getting pre-approved for a loan and extensive searching on the internet we decided it was time to start looking. Our focus was centered on finding a place with some land.
We knew that looking at houses would not be easy since we both were in San Diego; however, Jamie assured us that he would have no problem working with our schedule. We immediately picked a weekend to fly up there and made a long list of houses to view. We emailed our list to Jamie and he was up for the challenge. Jamie took us to over 20 properties in two days and was very informative about each listing. Even better, he was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and answered all of our questions.
After our long weekend of looking at houses we reconsidered our search criteria. After a lot of thought we decided to buy closer to Sacramento since that is most likely where we will find work. When we told Jamie that we had changed our minds he was not upset or annoyed that he had spent an entire weekend showing houses that were no longer of interest to us. He happily sent us new listings that fit our new search criteria. We planned another weekend to go looking and once again Jamie took us to numerous properties.
We made offers on a few homes over the next couple months and Jamie was always there to help answer our endless questions. Once one of our offers was accepted Jamie was immediately helping us line up the inspections. As the process continued we had a few issues with our lender; Jamie was instrumental in helping us work through those issues. Without his help I do not think the loan would have gone through before the closing date.
The best quality about Jamie is that he never put any pressure on us to make offers. Instead he wanted to make sure it was the house we would want to live in before making an offer.

“When shopping for an investment property in the Grass Valley area I was referred to Jamie Barber by a REALTOR ® where I live in San Jose. Although this REALTOR ® had never actually met Jamie, she was impressed by him when working with a previous client just a few months prior while looking for home in Grass Valley.
Jamie listened to my wish list and setup an automated email sending me daily MLS listings of homes that fit my description. After about a week I had made a list of 20 or 30 homes I wanted to see in person. Jamie put together a package for me of each of the properties, listing out all the details of each house and called the listing agents to setup an appointment for a visit. We were able to quickly and efficiently visit all the homes in a short period of time. We graded each house with an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ or ‘No Way’. Jamie took the pressure off by making the house shopping experience fun. After just a few homes, Jamie could see a pattern in the ones I did or didn’t approve of and for what reasons. By the second day of house shopping I found the home I wanted, and not from MLS list either, it was one that Jamie had found and thought that I would like, so he suggested we take a look at it. It felt right just as soon as we drove up and by the time I stepped into the front door I fell in love the place.
Jamie helped me make and offer and walked me through all the steps of the negotiation process, getting me an excellent deal on the house. Since I lived out of town, Jamie was my eyes and ears and setup appointments with each of the inspectors and repair contractors, met them at the house and followed up with me on the phone after each was completed. There wasn’t a day that went by that Jamie didn’t call me, usually several times, to keep me in the loop and updated me on the progress. Jamie made me feel like I was his only client.
I had requested escrow to close in 30 days or less. Because Jamie was so efficient we were able to close exactly 20 days from the day our offer was accepted. As a REALTOR®, Jamie went far above and beyond my expectations. Even after escrow closed Jamie was there for me. Because this purchase was an investment I would need renters. Jamie spread the word to help me advertise and even showed the house to prospective renters for me when I couldn’t be there. Jamie Barber, the REALTOR®, was recommended to me by my good friend, Gayle, as well as another person that I had worked with for a long time, Shannon.
